Introduction
The Cloudbeds Booking Engine can display the direct booking experience in multiple languages, helping guests navigate the booking process in their preferred language. Your property controls which supported languages are available.
This article lists the supported languages and explains how language selection works for your property and guests.
How language selection works
Language selection involves three connected parts: your property chooses which languages to offer, guests select from those enabled options, and the Booking Engine may use the guest's browser language as the initial display language.
-
Property selection: Go to Account
> Settings
> Booking Engine
> Settings page > Advanced tab > Supported languages option. Select the languages you want to offer, then save your changes. For a more detailed walkthrough, see Booking Engine Settings FAQ.
- Guest selection: The enabled languages appear in the top-right corner of the Booking Engine. Guests can switch between them during the booking process. For a more detailed walkthrough, see Where do guests change the language?
- Automatic detection: When available, the Booking Engine can detect the guest's browser language and initially display a matching supported language.

Frequently asked questions
Expand each question below to learn how guests select a language and how to provide translated property content throughout the Cloudbeds Booking Engine.
Where do guests change the language?
Guests can change the language directly from the Booking Engine page. Only the languages enabled in your property's Booking Engine settings appear as options.
- Go to the property's Cloudbeds Booking Engine.
- Click the globe icon in the top-right corner of the page.
- Review the languages in the Select Language menu. Guests can use the search field to find a language when the list is long.
- Select the preferred language. The Booking Engine displays the supported interface text in that language.
Guests can return to the globe icon and select another enabled language at any time during the booking process.
Does enabling a language translate custom content?
Enabling a language translates the standard Booking Engine interface, such as system-generated labels, buttons, fields, and navigation text. Default amenities are also translated when a supported language is selected.
Cloudbeds does not automatically translate content entered by your property. To provide a more complete translated experience, select each language in the applicable setting and enter the translated version manually.
| Content area | Translation guidance |
|---|---|
| Amenities | Standard amenities are translated automatically. Custom amenities cannot currently be translated, so the text appears as entered by the property. |
| Booking Engine customization text |
Add language-specific content for supported customization fields, such as the custom header and footer. Select the language before entering and saving the content for that version. See Customize the Cloudbeds Booking Engine. The message displayed when no accommodations are available can also be customized. See Customize the No Availability text for the Booking Engine. |
| Products, add-ons, and services | Add translated names and descriptions for products, add-ons, or services offered through the Booking Engine by selecting each available language in the relevant fields. See Create Add-Ons. |
| Property and accommodation details |
Add translated property information and descriptions in the applicable language fields. For property-level information, see Property Profile - Everything You Need to Know. Add translated accommodation names and descriptions for each language you offer. See Create and manage your accommodation types. |
| Rate plans and packages |
When creating or editing a rate plan or package, use the language dropdowns available beside the translatable text fields. Add the corresponding text for each language you offer rather than updating only one field. If a translated field is left empty, the Booking Engine displays the value entered in the property's main application language. For general configuration guidance, see Rate Plans and Packages - Everything You Need to Know. |
| Terms and conditions and policies |
On the Policies page, use the language selector available for supported text fields, including custom cancellation policies and terms and conditions. Select each language, enter the translated text manually, and save your changes. Cloudbeds does not translate this content automatically. Terms and conditions appear in the Property Information section of the Booking Engine. Policy information configured in Cloudbeds is not sent to connected channels, so manage channel-specific policies directly in each channel. See Set up and Edit Terms and Conditions and Policies - Everything You Need to Know. |
Preview each enabled language before publishing your Booking Engine to confirm that all guest-facing content appears in the intended language.
