Choose Your Calendar Start Day in Cloudbeds PMS Settings

Cloudbeds PMS now includes a new setting that allows properties to change the start day of the week in calendars throughout the system. You can choose whether your week begins on Sunday (default), Monday, or Saturday, helping your property align calendars, schedules, and weekly reporting with regional and operational practices.

Once available in your property, the new setting will update calendar pickers, reservation filters, availability tools, and weekly display in Classic Reports, providing a more consistent and intuitive weekly layout for your staff.

This improvement is live for all Cloudbeds PMS calendars.

Integration for the Booking Engine, Guest Experience, and Guest Marketing is planned for a future phase, with more details expected in Q1 2026.

Why the Start of Week setting matters

The new Start of Week setting helps your property keep calendars, reports, and day-to-day operations aligned with how your team already works. Many countries, regions, and companies follow different weekly patterns, so using a single “global” start day can create confusion when reading reports or planning tasks.

By choosing whether your week starts on Sunday, Monday, or Saturday, you can improve weekly planning, make reports easier to understand, and reduce misunderstandings between departments.

Here are a few common examples:

  • Many European and Latin American countries begin the week on Monday.
  • Several regions use Saturday as the first day of the week.
  • North American calendars typically start on Sunday.

With this update, Cloudbeds PMS supports all three options so each property can select the week structure that best matches its local calendar and business practices.

Where to find the setting

Once the feature is available for your property, you can choose the start of the week by going to:

  1. Account Account menu icon.png
  2. Settings Settings icon.png
  3. System → Preferences
  4. Scroll to Miscellaneous Preferences
  5. Select your preferred option under Start week on

Only users with the proper permission can modify this setting. To update it, your user role must have access to Hotel Profile (learn more in the Role Privileges article).

How this setting affects your PMS

When you change the start of the week, Cloudbeds PMS adjusts calendar views across the platform, including:

  • Dashboard calendars
  • Reservation filters (classic and new look)
  • Create New Reservation
  • Group folio filters
  • Rates & Availability tools (Add Interval, Availability Matrix)
  • Activity Log and Email Delivery Log
  • House Account filters
  • PIE (Events, Activity Log, Rate Manager)

This ensures consistent weekly views for staff across your property.

Weekly reports and date display

Some Classic Reports in Cloudbeds PMS provide weekly summaries. To avoid confusion after selecting a new start of week, these reports now display actual date ranges instead of week numbers.

For example, instead of seeing:

  • Week 01
  • Week 02
  • Week 03

You will now see:

  • 01/01 – 07/01
  • 08/01 – 14/01
  • 15/01 – 21/01

Notes for Cloudbeds Insights Reports

Cloudbeds Insights has its own setting for the start of the week. This means:

  • Changing the PMS setting does not affect Insights reports.
  • Users can choose their preferred start day in the Manage menu inside Insights (learn more in the Cloudbeds Insights article).

This separation ensures that each tool works consistently for different reporting needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does changing the Start of Week affect my historical data or reports?

No historical data is changed when you update the Start of Week setting. The update only affects how weekly information is displayed.

However, Cloudbeds Insights Reports (Stock Reports) keep its own Start of Week setting, so Insights reports are not changed by the PMS preference.

Will this update change my calendars automatically?

No. Even after your property receives access to the new setting, the start of the week will remain on Sunday until an authorized user changes it manually.

To update it, go to Account Settings → System → Preferences → Miscellaneous Preferences and choose your preferred option under Start week on.

Will the Start of Week setting also change my Booking Engine, Guest Experience, or Guest Marketing calendars?

Not yet. The first phase of this release only applies to the calendars and weekly views listed in the How this setting affects your PMS section.

The Booking Engine, Guest Experience (formerly Whistle), and Guest Marketing will continue to follow their current start-of-week behavior until a future rollout phase. There is currently no estimated date for when these products will adopt the new setting. Once support is added, this article will be updated to reflect the change.

How can I check if someone changed the Start of Week setting?

You can verify this in the Activity Log:

  1. Go to Account Account menu icon.pngSettings Settings icon.png → Logs  Logs icon.pngActivity Log.
  2. Open the Change Made filter and expand General System Settings.
  3. Select Default start of week changed.
  4. Click Apply to see who made the change, when it happened, and how the Start of Week value was updated.

The log entry looks similar to: “Start of week day changed – First day of the week changed from Sunday to Monday.”

Availability of the new Start of Week setting

The "Start of Week" customization is currently live for all Cloudbeds PMS calendars.

Updates for guest-facing tools (Booking Engine, Guest Experience, and Guest Marketing) are planned for the future, with more details expected in Q1 2026.

Please note: You will continue to see a "beta" tag next to this setting until these updates are fully complete.
