Stripe - Frequently Asked Questions

Stripe is one of the most popular payment processors we connect with. This guide covers the most frequently asked questions about the connection process and usage.

  • Although Stripe offers multiple alternative payment methods, our integration only supports credit and debit cards as payment methods (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express).
  • When switching payment gateways, any charges for "in-house" or future reservations that were made before the switch, must be made on the previous gateway.
    • Example: If you have a reservation which was charged by PayU, even if you switch the connection to Stripe, all the charges related to the previous reservation will be done from within the previously connected payment gateway / PayU) - and vice versa.

I cannot view the credit card details

For security reasons, Stripe verifies and stores credit card details on their side — this is a security feature on the gateway end to prevent frauds.

Stripe stores the credit cards in your account but does not allow anyone to see them. However, you can still run any transactions on them directly via Cloudbeds PMS.

In some instances, you will be able to see the credit card details on Cloudbeds PMS and that is most likely because the credit card is invalid. See section: I can view some credit cards details but not for all of them

I can view some credit cards details but not for all of them

When credit card details are added to a reservation, either manually by the user, or, automatically imported from the booking engine or channel manager, Cloudbeds PMS sends it to Stripe to save it and/or perform a transaction.

If for any reason, Stripe doesn't accept the card (e.g the credit card is invalid), Cloudbeds PMS will store the credit card data locally instead.

My property is based in India, can I connect to Stripe?

Yes. We recommend that Indian properties sign up from Payment Options menu on Cloudbeds PMS by following the steps here: Stripe - Connection Guide. You don't need to contact the Stripe support team.

I'm switching to another Stripe account. Why credit card details are not available after connecting to new Stripe account?

If you're switching from one Stripe account to another Stripe account — the credit card details added while you were connected to previous Stripe account will become unavailable.

Consider making actions with these credit cards directly inside Stripe account, or, directly in Cloudbeds PMS before switching to a new Stripe account.
