Steps to take when you can't run credit cards with Cloudbeds Payments

If you are experiencing a processor outage or an issue with your merchant account, and credit card processing is temporarily unavailable with Cloudbeds Payments, there are steps you can take to minimize disruption

To ensure a seamless guest experience and prevent revenue loss while the issue is resolved, we recommend securely storing the guest's credit card on file so you can process the payment later, as detailed below:

Step 1 - Save a credit card on file

To ensure you can charge your guest once your merchant account is back up, you can store guest's credit card details in the reservation. Then, you can add any items you need to charge at a later date.

Here is how to add a credit card securely to the desired reservation:

  1. Inside the reservation, click on the Credit Cards tab.
  2. Click on +ADD CARD.
  3. Enter all the card details.
  4. You can click the Save button only after you fill in all the required credit card details (marked with an asterisk).

Per PCI standards, our system is designed to handle credit card data securely and encrypt the card number to prevent misuse of the data.

Step 2 - Process the payment later

Once your merchant account is back up, you can charge your guest by following the steps in this article: How to process payment through Payment Gateway.
