Overview
The Cloudbeds Booking Engine has been reimagined to a new upgraded version: The Cloudbeds Booking Engine Plus. Before upgrading to the new Booking Engine, make sure you take into consideration the important information and steps provided below.
Understanding the customization differences between each version
- The Customization section of the Cloudbeds Booking Engine Plus offers a better user experience. For this reason, the fields of the Customization tab differ between the old version and the new one.
- Review and share the following section with your marketing specialists and/or website developers to understand the Differences between the standard customization tab and the new Booking Engine Plus.
- The Booking Engine migration ensures uninterrupted payments and access to the latest PayPal features. See, How to Connect Your PayPal Business Account.
- Old/classic version iframe compatibility notice: Old/classic Booking Engine full page or minimal Iframe are not compatible with the new Booking Engine Plus version. To ensure compatibility with Booking Engine Plus, you must transition to the iframe Immersive Experience. This updated iframe is fully supported and includes the latest functionality and enhancements.
Manage your customization codes and snippets
- Make sure to review and move any tracking codes placed in the Custom Meta Tags fields (including those belonging to third-party companies) to your new Booking Engine Plus customization fields. Remember to test them to see if they are working as expected to prevent any loss of data.
- The Google Analytics tags applied in the Analytics section will remain. If instead you relied on a GTM or GA4 code snippet for the Booking Engine Plus, you would only have to apply the respective tag ID in the Analytics section. You can follow the guidelines in this article: Connect Google Analytics with Cloudbeds Booking Engine.
- Any other custom scripts or widgets, such as floating buttons for example, will need to be moved to the Booking Engine Plus' Custom Meta Tags and/or JavaScript fields. Remember to test the results to confirm if they are working as expected in the new Booking Engine, both mobile and desktop.
- Review your website iframe embedding: Old Booking Engine iframe embeds are not compatible with the Booking Engine Plus. You can update to the Cloudbeds Booking Engine Immersive Experience; and/or widgets and/or redirect using the Book Now button.
- Any third parties that provided custom scripts for the old Booking Engine may not currently be supported. If your property website has third-party scripts that are not compatible with Booking Engine Plus, let us know, and we can contact the third party on your behalf to request they update their script for the new booking engine.
Frequently asked questions
No. Immersive Experience 2.0 can be enabled even without an online payment gateway connected. Guests will still be able to:
- Complete a booking using the Bank Transfer / Pay-at-property option, or
- Enter their card details so you can charge them later inside Cloudbeds PMS.
A payment gateway is only required if you want the system to automatically collect or pre-authorize payments at the time of booking.
Most previous customization codes from the old Booking Engine version are not compatible with the new Booking Engine Plus. This is because the new version operates on an entirely new framework. The new customization fields have a different format and operate on a one-page-only model, meaning that most old codes won't work in the new version. This happens with any code targeting specific components or elements on the old booking engine.

In the case of third-party scripts not working (not old Booking Engine codes), if you notice that your third-party party tracking code is not working properly, we suggest involving your third-party partner(s) to verify the script in case it needs any updates. You can also reach out to our Support Team, in case you need any additional information or guidance with the process.
The JavaScript field within the Booking Engine Plus will only accept JavaScript (JS) language, and the Custom Meta Tags will not accept JavaScript.
