PIE - Compset-Based Alerts (Create, Edit or Delete)

Compset-Based alerts triggers a notification each time the base rate in your property is higher/lower than your competitor(s).

This article explains how to create, edit or delete a compset-based alert on PIE.

Before Getting Started

  • Before creating a Compset Based Alert, create a compset. Check this article to learn how: How to create/add a compset
  • Currently, compset rates data is updated every 24h (additional functionality will be available later, for more frequent or on-demand updates)
  • Competitors data is retrieved for the following 90 days

Things to note:

Alerts do not yet work as a rule and currently cannot be set to change your prices, it only shows you notifications when conditions are met. The notifications will appear in the following areas of PIE:

  • Today's Activity block of the Overview page
  • Rate Manager page (both Table and List view) for the corresponding dates
  • Accommodation Details popup window (accessible by clicking on a date in Rate Manager) under the Rules and Alerts tab

Compset-Based Alerts

Create a Compset-Based Alert
Step 1 - Create the Alert on PIE
  1. Starting from the PIE section of your Main Menu, click on the Rules and Alerts page
  2. Click on +Create New Rule/Alert. This will open a popup window where you will set up your compset alert. Continue with Step 2.
Step 2 - Add the Alert Details and Parameters
  1. Select Compset Based Alert
  2. Set alert Name
  3. Select which compset you would like to trigger the alert. Click here to learn how to create compsets
  4. Select whether to compare your rates to the entire compset or specific properties
  5. Select if you would like the alert to trigger based on your lowest or highest rate
  6. Select when you want to be alerted: when your rate is 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th highest/lowest in compset
  7. Depending on the choice made in the previous step, select whether an alert will be triggered every time the rate is 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th highest/lowest or when it's 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th highest/lowest by a set percent or by a fixed amount
Step 3 - Define the Alert Schedule
  1. Select if you would like the alert to be Always Active or active only during a Specific Date Range
  2. If you have selected Specific Date Range, you will need to select Start and End date and Days of Week when the alert should be active.
  3. Add several date ranges, if needed
  4. Click Save
Edit a Compset-Based Alert
  1. Access Rules and Alerts page
  2. Find the desired rule and click on the Edit (pencil) icon on the right side. This will open the modal with the Rule details.
  1. Make necessary changes in the corresponding sections
  2. Click Save
Delete a Compset-Based Alert
  1. Access Rules and Alerts page
  2. Find the desired rule, and click on Delete (x icon) on the right side
  3. The system will ask to confirm the removal. Click Delete to proceed, or Cancel to go back to the Rules and Alerts page

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens once a Compset-Based Alert is triggered?

Once compset alert is triggered, notifications will appear in the following areas:

  • Today's Activity block of the Overview page
  • Rate Manager page (both Table and List view) for the corresponding dates
  • Accommodation Details popup window (accessible by clicking on a date in Rate Manager) under the Rules & Alerts tab

Rate Manager

On the Rate Manager page, you will see a yellow notification on the corresponding date with the number of alerts triggered. Clicking this notification opens  Accommodation Details popup window with the list of Rules/Alerts triggered for that day and room type (see more details below).

You can also filter out all compset based alerts triggered for specific period on Rate Manager list view, using 'Compset Alert' rule state.

Accommodation Details popup window can be accessed by clicking on the alert in the Rate Manager. The Rules and Alerts tab lists all triggered rules and alerts for the selected date and room type.
