Introduction

PromptPay is Thailand's QR code payment network, connected to participating Thai banks. It allows you to pay your Cloudbeds invoices in Thai baht (THB) by scanning a QR code with your banking app.

When you initiate a PromptPay payment in the Cloudbeds Billing Portal, payment instructions are generated for the selected invoice. You can open the payment page, scan the QR code, and authorize the payment through your banking app.

PromptPay supports one-time payments only. Automatic recurring charges are not available, so each invoice must be paid individually.

After your payment is successfully received and confirmed, Cloudbeds automatically updates the invoice status to Paid.

This article explains how to select PromptPay, pay an invoice using a QR code, and understand what happens after payment.

PromptPay availability and limitations

Before using PromptPay, review the supported payment conditions and limitations.

  • Supported country: Thailand
  • Supported currency: Thai baht (THB)
  • Payment type: Manual, customer-initiated QR code payment
  • Payment limits: THB 1 to 16,000 per payment, according to the current payment guidance. Invoices above THB 16,000 cannot be paid using PromptPay.
  • Expected processing time: Payments are usually received within a few minutes after authorization.
  • Multiple invoices: You can select multiple invoices when initiating payment, but each invoice must be paid separately using its own payment page and QR code.
  • Recurring payments: Automatic recurring charges are not supported.
  • Refunds: Full and partial refunds are supported after an invoice has been successfully paid.

Select PromptPay in the Billing Portal

Before paying an invoice with PromptPay, select it as your preferred payment method in the Cloudbeds Billing Portal.

  1. Go to Account.
  2. Open Billing Portal.
  3. Click Billing settings.
  4. Scroll down to the Payment method section and click Edit.
  5. Select PromptPay.

The payment method selection provides information about PromptPay and explains when the QR code becomes available.

  1. Click Save to confirm your payment preference.

Important to know: Selecting PromptPay only saves your payment preference. It does not generate a QR code or initiate payment. To pay an invoice, you must start the payment process from the Invoices tab in the Billing Portal.

Pay an invoice using PromptPay

Once PromptPay is selected, you can generate the payment instructions for your invoice and complete the payment using a participating Thai banking app.

The standard invoice email does not include the PromptPay QR code or payment instructions. You must access these details through the Billing Portal.

Generate and access payment instructions

  1. Open the Billing Portal and go to the Invoices tab.
  2. Click Pay to initiate payment.

The following image shows the payment action in the Invoices tab.

  1. Select the invoice or invoices you want to pay and continue. Each selected invoice receives its own payment instructions.

The invoice selection screen allows you to choose which invoices to include in the payment process.

  1. Return to the Invoices tab and locate the invoice you want to pay.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right side of the invoice row.
  3. Select Payment instructions.

Use the Payment instructions option to access the details generated for that invoice.

  1. In the Payment instructions window, review the Amount and Pay by date.
  2. Click Open payment page.

The Payment instructions window provides access to the external payment page where the PromptPay QR code is displayed.

Scan the QR code and complete payment

After opening the payment page, you can complete the transaction using your Thai banking app.

  1. On the external payment page, locate the PromptPay QR code and countdown timer.
  2. Open a participating Thai banking app and log in.
  3. Use the banking app to scan the QR code displayed on the payment page.
  4. Review the payment amount and details shown in the banking app.
  5. Authorize the payment by following your bank's instructions.
  6. Keep the confirmation from your banking app as proof of payment.

The following image provides a visual reference for the PromptPay payment page and QR code.

Important: The current payment guidance states that a PromptPay QR code is valid for 10 minutes. Complete the payment before the countdown expires. If you selected multiple invoices, repeat the payment process separately for each invoice using its own payment page and QR code.

After a successful payment, you are redirected to the Invoices page in the Billing Portal. Once the payment is confirmed, the invoice is automatically marked as Paid.

What happens if a PromptPay payment expires?

PromptPay payment attempts do not remain available indefinitely. The current guidance states that when a pending payment expires without receiving funds, the pending payment is canceled and the invoice becomes available for payment again.

You can then start a new payment attempt for the same invoice from the Billing Portal.

  1. Open the Billing PortalBilling Portal.png and go to the Invoices tab.
  2. Locate the invoice that was not paid.
  3. Click Pay to initiate a new payment attempt.
  4. Follow the payment instructions to open a new payment page and complete the PromptPay payment.

You do not need to create a new invoice when the previous payment attempt expires.

Next Operational Step

After completing your PromptPay payment, return to the Invoices tab in the Billing Portal and verify that the corresponding invoice is marked as Paid. For future invoices, initiate a new PromptPay payment and use the QR code generated for that specific invoice.
