Overview
Cloudbeds is expanding its payment ecosystem to help you meet guests where they are. We are currently piloting four popular local and alternative payment methods (APMs) through Pay by Link: Klarna, iDEAL, MB Way, and Cash App Pay.
By offering familiar payment options, you reduce checkout friction and increase guest confidence, especially in international markets where credit cards aren't always the primary choice.
- This feature is in pilot and available to a limited number of properties
- We recommend monitoring early transactions closely
- Guest adoption may vary depending on your market
Current limitations
- Only the payment methods listed above are supported

- Authorization & capture
- Card-on-file payments
- Availability is limited by region and eligibility
Additional payment methods may be introduced in the future.

Payment Methods Included in This Pilot
Depending on your property’s location and eligibility, the following payment methods may be available:
- Klarna – Pay later options for eligible guests
- iDEAL – Bank transfer payments (Netherlands)
- MB Way – Mobile payments (Portugal)
- Cash App Pay – Digital wallet payments (United States)
Not all payment methods are available to all properties or guests. Availability depends on property location, guest location and currency.
How to Enable New Payment Methods
During the pilot, you can toggle these methods on or off at any time.
Navigate to Settings
-> Finance
-> Additional and Custom Payment Methods.
Click Add New Payment Type.
Select the method (Klarna, iDEAL, MB Way, or Cash App Pay).
Save your changes.
❗These options will only appear to guests on the Pay by Link checkout page if their location and currency match the method’s requirements.
Disable a Payment Method
- You can disable a payment method at any time
- Disabling affects future guest payments only
- Existing transactions are not impacted
Guest Checkout Experience
When guests reach checkout on the booking engine, the available payment methods are shown automatically based on eligibility.

- Multiple payment options, depending on their location and currency
- Some payment methods may redirect guests to complete payment or require mobile confirmation
- Payment confirmation timing may vary by method
This behavior is demonstrated during checkout and is expected for these payment types.
Reporting & Transactions
- Transactions made with these payment methods appear in your standard Cloudbeds payment reporting
- Settlement timing and refund behavior may vary by payment method
Some payment methods have limitations defined by the payment provider.
