Before we can publish your website, your domain needs to be redirected to Cloudbeds. Follow the next steps to complete the domain connection.
- Ensure your domain host supports CNAME and 301 redirects.
- If it doesn’t support, check with your domain provider to change your internal settings.
DNS Settings
Set up your DNS settings through the admin access to the domain which you intend to use. In your domain host, you need to create:
- One “CNAME”
- Two “A records”
Use the following information for the CNAME and A records fields:
| Type | Host/Alias | Points to / Destination |
| CNAME | www | s.multiscreensite.com. |
| First A Record | @ | 35.172.94.1 |
| Second A Record | @ | 100.24.208.97 |
- Two “A Records” are used for server balance and redundancy. Some domain hosts allow you to create just 1 “A record”, but you can configure two email addresses there.
- Make sure you have entered our CNAME and A records correctly, and there are no other records in place using the same name or host. Other records should be removed from the settings.
- Adding AAAA and CAA records prevents issuing an SSL certificate. Ensure you do not have these records configured.
Specific Domain Host Records
Most domain hosts have instructions on creating CNAME and A records in their help center. If you cannot find this information, you may contact your domain host. To assist in setting up your DNS settings in your domain host, see the following information for specific domain hosts:
| Domain Host | Help Links |
| GoDaddy | |
| NameCheap | |
| HostGator | |
| Google Domains | |
| Register.com | |
| Network Solutions | |
| Cloudflare | |
| Bluehost | |
| IONOS | |
| HOSTNET |
Alternate Domain
After a custom domain has been set up for your site, you can forward other domains you own to the domain you set up. This feature may be useful if you have recently changed your domain name or would like to forward other top-level variants of your domain (for example, .net, .org) to your main site.
Cloudbeds Professional Services team will add alternate domains to your website. On your end, you need to configure DNS records in the same way as for the primary domain (follow the instructions above). Visitors to these domains will be redirected (via 301 redirect) to your Cloudbeds website.
Troubleshooting
CNAME and A records can take up to 48 hours to propagate, so your site will not usually show up immediately.
If your site is still not displaying after 48 hours, there may be an issue. Here’s how to identify what might be wrong:
- Go to this link and select either CNAME or A from the drop-down menu.
- For CNAME, complete the field using your whole URL (for example, www.example.com).
- For the A Record, complete the field using the naked domain (for example, example.com).
- If you see red Xs, or do not see the correct host to the right of each location, this means that either the CNAME or A record was not set up correctly or the domain host is not propagating.
- Ensure the CNAME and A record is set up with the correct values listed above.
- If everything is set up correctly and you have waited 48 hours, but your site is not showing, contact your domain host for more information.
- If you see green check marks and the correct host name, your CNAME and A record has been set up successfully.
