Definition and benefits
Cartes Bancaires is France's local card network, and it's incredibly popular. In fact, over 95% of payment cards in France carry the Cartes Bancaires logo. This means most French guests already have a CB card in their wallet.
- Improved Guest Experience: Offering familiar payment options enhances guest satisfaction and can lead to higher conversion rates.
- Wider Audience Reach: By accepting Cartes Bancaires, you cater directly to a large segment of the French travel market.
- Compliance with Regulations: We ensure you meet the latest EEA requirements for processing co-branded cards.
What does this mean for your hotel?
By accepting Cartes Bancaires, you're opening your doors to even more guests from France, providing them with a familiar and trusted payment method when making direct reservations with you.
Most Cartes Bancaires cards are co-branded with Visa or Mastercard. They can be processed through either the Cartes Bancaires or the Visa/Mastercard network.
New regulations within the EEA require businesses to offer guests a choice of which network they prefer to use when paying with a co-branded card.
What's changing in Cloudbeds?
We're implementing a seamless way for Cartes Bancaires cardholders in the EEA to select their preferred network during payment. Cartes Bancaires payments are accepted via:
- Booking Engine: When guests book directly through your website, they can choose their preferred network using a co-branded Cartes Bancaires card.
- Pay-by-Link: If you send payment links to your guests, they will also see this network choice when making the payment.
- Arrivals App: The guest will also be presented with this choice for payments processed through the Arrivals App.
This update will be a valuable addition to your payment options, making it even easier for guests from France to book their stay with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our support team.
