This article explains how to disconnect (disable) a distribution channel in your Cloudbeds PMS account.
Disconnecting a channel stops Cloudbeds from sending availability and rates to the channel and stops new reservations from being imported into Cloudbeds.
This article also explains what happens after the channel is disconnected and what actions are still required on the channel’s side to fully stop bookings.
What Happens After Disconnecting a Channel on Cloudbeds side
- When you disconnect a channel from your Cloudbeds PMS account, rate, availability, and reservation sync (ARI) stops.
- Cloudbeds will also stop receiving new reservations from the OTA. Existing reservations already delivered to Cloudbeds are not removed.
- Disconnecting the channel in Cloudbeds does not automatically remove your property or rooms from the OTA extranet.
How to fully remove an OTA after disconnecting it from Cloudbeds?
- To fully stop bookings, you must also take action directly in the OTA’s extranet (for example, closing rooms, stopping sales, or deactivating the listing) with the assistance of your channel account manager.
How to Disconnect a Channel on Cloudbeds PMS side
You can disconnect a distribution channel in Cloudbeds in two different ways.
Both options have the same result: Cloudbeds stops syncing availability, rates, and reservations with the channel.
Choose the option that best matches how you are already working in the Distribution page.
Option 1: Disable a channel from the Channels list
- Go to the Distribution
page
- On the
tab, identify the channel you wish to disable.
- Open the three dots menu next to the channel options
- Click Disable
- Review the message and confirm you want to disable the Channel
Option 2: Disable a channel from the Channel Manage page
- Go to the Distribution
page
- On the Channels tab, open the channel you want to disable to access its Manage page
- In the top-right corner, click Disable Channel
- Review the confirmation message
- Click Confirm to disable the channel
Disabling a channel in Cloudbeds does not stop rooms from being bookable on the OTA.
To fully stop bookings, you must also disable the channel manager connection or close availability directly in the channel’s extranet.
Channels Exceptions
- Hopper: Disabling the channel will also disable rooms and rate plans on the channel's extranet.
- Channels like TripAdvisor, Trivago, Google Hotel Ads, Vrbo, and Airbnb, are unlikely to cause issues since they check ARI with us before confirming bookings.
What should I do before disconnecting a channel to avoid overbookings?
Before disconnecting:
- Ensure availability is closed or controlled in the OTA extranet.
- Confirm no pending reservations are expected.
- Review future reservations already received in Cloudbeds.
This helps prevent unintended bookings after ARI sync stops.
Does disconnecting a channel delete past reservations or reports?
No. Disconnecting a channel does not delete historical reservations, reports, or financial data already stored in Cloudbeds.
