PIE - Rate Shopper Overview

Follow

Once compsets have been created, the Rate Shopper tool will display the data returned for each of them.

Accessing Rate Shopper
  1. Click on PIE icon in the top right corner of myfrontdesk
  2. Go to Rate Shopper page

There are 2 views available in Rate Shopper: Calendar and Graph. You can choose between them by using the toggle at the top of the page.

Rate Shopper Calendar view

Calendar view displays competitors' rates in a table by date.

The following filter allows you to select which data to display in this view:

  • Display: you may select between displaying rates of every individual competitor (All Properties) or peaks and averages of all competitors in a compset (Compset High/Low)
  • Compset: this allows you to select from the list of existing compsets that you previously built (for more information on adding a compset please visit this article)
  • Ranking by Price: you may select to display highest or lowest prices for your property and the competitors (note that if Compset High/Low Display is selected, toggling Ranking won't affect the competitors' data, it will only change My Property price)
  • Compare: this option is only available when All Properties is selected in the Display area, it allows to select specific properties from the selected compset to be displayed on the Rate Shopper page

Note that when first navigating to the Rate Shopper page, it will show the first compset in the list as the default view. Keep in mind that compsets can be reordered on the Compsets page. For more information about creating a compset, please visit this article. For more information about reordering compsets please visit this article.

Display: All Properties

If you select All Properties in the Display section of the filter, the Rate Shopper will show the rates of each individual competitor in the selected compset:

1. A time stamp above the table reflects the last scheduled price shop
2. Ranking is displayed under My Property rates that shows how your property is ranked among the shown competitors in terms of prices that are displayed in the current view.
3. The prices of the competitors are color-coded for your convenience:

  • green - prices that are above My Property
  • red - prices that are below My Property
  • black - prices that are equal to My Property

This color coding allows you to see at-a-glance where your property is positioned in the market.

4. Status "Closed" is displayed when a property is either not available, sold out or has a stay restriction for that date.

Note that currently compset rates data is refreshed every 24 hours and displays the following 90 days (rolling).

You can use the filter above the Rate Shopper table to select from existing compsets and to show either Lowest or Highest prices (based on prices of different room types) of My Property and each competitor. Note how the data updates based on this selection:

Display: Compset High/Low

If you select Compset High/Low in the Display section of the filter, the Rate Shopper will show the peak and the average prices of all competitors in the selected compset:

  • My Property rate - your current base rate
  • Compset High rate  - highest rate across across all properties within the selected compset and all room types
  • Compset Low rate - lowest rate across all properties within the selected compset and all room types
  • Compset Average rate - average of all rates across all properties within the selected compset and all room types (note that when a certain property is closed/not available on a particular date - that does not affect the calculation of the average price)

Note that toggling between Lowest or Highest prices in the Ranking by Price section of the filter, doesn't affect the High, Low and Average of the compset. It only affects the price displayed for your property (either lowest priced room type or highest priced room type for each day).

Rate Shopper Graph view

Graph view displays competitors' rates as a graph.

Just as in the Calendar view, the following filter allows you to select which data to display in this view:

Display: All Properties

If you select All Properties in the Display section of the filter, the Rate Shopper Graph will show the rates of each individual competitor in the selected compset.

In this graph, you can:

  1. Drag the Range ruler to change the number of days to be displayed
  2. Review rates for each property
  3. Click on any data point to review price details (Property Name, Channel, Room Type, Price Amount)

The prices of the competitors are color-coded for your convenience (each competitor is assigned a different color).

Status "Closed" (when a property is either not available, sold out or has a stay restriction for that date) is displayed as a 0 rate.

A time stamp above the table reflect the last scheduled price shop.

Note that currently this data is refreshed every 24 hours and displays the following 90 days (rolling).

You can use the filter above the Rate Shopper graph to select from existing compsets and to show either Lowest or Highest prices (based on prices of different room types) of My Property and each competitor.

Display: Compset High/Low

If you select Compset High/Low in the Display section of the filter, the Rate Shopper will show the peak and the average prices of all competitors in the selected compset. You can also click on any data point to review price details (High/Low, Property Name, Price Amount).

  1. Your Rates - your current base rates
  2. Compset Average rate - average of all rates across all properties within the selected compset and all room types (note that when a certain property is closed/not available on a particular date - that does not affect the calculation of the average price)
  3. Compset High rate  - highest rate across across all properties within the selected compset and all room types
  4. Compset Low rate - lowest rate across all properties within the selected compset and all room types

Note that toggling between Lowest or Highest prices in the Ranking by Price section of the filter, doesn't affect the High, Low and Average of the compset. It only affects the price displayed for your property (either lowest priced room type or highest priced room type for each day).
