PIE - Approve or Deny a Manual Rule

The following article will walk you through the steps of approving/denying PIE rules in the Rate Manager and in the Accommodation Details popup.

These steps will depend on the Rule/Alert type. Learn more about Rules and Alerts

Things to note:

  • Only rules which are set to be activated manually can be approved or denied. Those rules which are set to be applied automatically will apply as soon as they are triggered, without any manual involvement.
  • It's not possible to revert the rule once it's approved: It means that if you have approved a price/restriction change, you won't be able to undo the change. Instead, you can change the price/restriction manually from the Rate Manager or Availability Matrix if needed.

Approve or Deny Manual Rules

Occupancy-Based Rules

1. Rate Manager - Calendar View

Once the occupancy-based rule is triggered:

  1. A yellow window will appear on the Rate Manager page for the corresponding date and room type, suggesting to approve or deny the price change.
  2. Click Approve (2) to accept the rate recommendation
  3. Or, click Deny (3) to keep the current rate

After clicking Approve or Deny, a blue triangle in the top right corner of the corresponding cell will appear, which indicates that a rule has been applied for this day.

If there is more than 1 alert for a specific date, the number of alerts will be displayed instead of the yellow Approve/Deny notification. Clicking on that number will open a popup (described in more details in the last section of this article).

2. Rate Manager - List View

  1. Find all triggered occupancy-based rules on the Rate Manager List View.
  2. Filter out the rules by type (Occupancy-Based) and apply the needed filters. The rules triggered will be displayed as a list.
  3. Under the Actions column, approve or deny individual rules.
  4. You can use Bulk Actions to Approve/Deny several rules at once.

3. Accommodation Details popup window

If there is more than 1 alert for a specific date, the number of alerts will be displayed instead of the yellow Approve/Deny notification in the Rate Manager.

  1. Clicking on that number or on the blue/red triangle (if present) will open the popup with Accommodation Details (Rules & Alerts tab) showing all approved, denied or pending rules for the corresponding date and room type:

Access Accommodation Details window by clicking on the Availability number of the cell.

Restriction-Based Rules

1. Rate Manager - Calendar View and Accommodation Details popup

When a Restriction-based rule is triggered, the Rate Manager will display a yellow Alert for the corresponding date and room type.

Clicking on the Alert opens a popup which only shows those alerts that require an action. Alerts in the popup message are not clickable.

Click on the Availability number of the cell to open the Accommodation Details where rules may be approved or denied:

Scroll to future dates from the Accommodation Details window to see if there are any alerts triggered for those dates and make pricing and restrictions decisions instantly.

2. Rate Manager - List View

  1. Find all triggered restriction based rule on the Rate Manager List view.
  2. Filter out the rules by type (Restriction-Based) and apply the needed filters. The rules triggered will be displayed as a list.
  3. Under Actions column, approve or deny individual rules.
  4. Use Bulk Actions to Approve/Deny several rules at once.
Compset-Based Alerts

Compset-Based alerts trigger a notification each time the base rate in your property is higher/lower than your competitor(s). The alert does not yet work as a rule and currently cannot be set to change your prices, it only shows you notifications when conditions are met.

Learn more about Compsets.

1. Rate Manager - Calendar View and Accommodation Details popup

Example:

Let's create a Compset-based rule for PIE to alert the property when your room rate is Highest in the Compset.

When the Compset Based Alert is triggered, the Rate Manager displays the number of alerts available for the corresponding date and room type:

  • Clicking on the yellow alert, users are able to see details about a triggered rule/alert in a pop up.
  • Clicking on the Availability Number of the cell will take the user to the Accommodation Details popup showing the alert triggered:

2. Rate Manager - List View

  1. Find all triggered compset based alerts on the Rate Manager List View.
  2. Filter out the alert by type (Compset-Based) and apply the needed filters. The alerts triggered will be displayed as a list.

It is not possible to approve or deny an alert. An alert is created for information only, and it is not an action item.
