Base Rates and Availability Matrix - Closed to Arrival/Departure Restrictions

Block arrivals or departures on specific dates to meet your property’s operational needs. This guide explains the Closed to Arrival and Closed to Departure restrictions in Cloudbeds PMS.

Use this restriction to prevent guests from checking in on a specific date. When applied, arrivals cannot be scheduled for that day.

No Closed to Arrival restriction applied:

Closed to Arrival restriction applied:


Date picker with restrictions applied (guests cannot check in on this date)

Use this restriction to stop guests from checking out on a specific date. When applied, no reservation can end on that day.

No Closed to Departure restriction applied:

Add Long-Term Intervals

  1. Click the Main Menu.
  2. Go to Rates and Availability.
  3. Select Availability Matrix.
  4. Click Long-Term Interval.

  1. Select the accommodations where the restrictions apply.
  2. Choose the date range.
  3. Select the days of the week, if applicable.
  4. From the Interval Settings dropdown, choose Closed to Arrival or Closed to Departure.
  5. Toggle Closed to Arrival/Departure ON for the selected dates.
  6. Click Add Interval.
  7. Save your changes.

Edit One Day at a Time

  1. In the Availability Matrix, open Display Options and select Closed to Arrival/Departure.
  2. Click the dates to apply or remove restrictions.
  3. Click Save.

  1. Click the Main Menu.
  2. Go to Rates and Availability.
  3. Select Base Rates.
  4. Click to edit your base rate(s).
  5. Set Closed to Arrival/Departure to Yes.
  6. Click Save Interval and then Save your changes.

  • From the Availability Matrix: Click the toggles again to turn them gray — this disables the restriction for those dates.
  • From the Base Rates: Repeat the same process, selecting No in the Closed to Arrival/Departure options and saving your interval.

  • I have set up closed to departure on a Saturday, but the booking engine is still allowing guest to check in on Friday and out on a Saturday?
